The Rhyl Festive Dip is back!
Come and join fellow dippers of all ages, as they brave the chilly North Wales waters, all in aid of RNLI, raising funds to help our crews continue to save lives at sea.
Those wanting to get even more into the spirit can wear fancy dress, with a prize being awarded for the best dressed.
Entry is £5 per dipper, with all proceeds to the RNLI.
You can also collect sponsors for the event by downloading our sponsor form and donating online on our JustGiving page
Alternatively, you are welcome to collect sponsorship for other causes.
On day registration opens at 12:30pm, with the Dip taking place at 2pm.

Dip Conditions :

By registering I agree to the following conditions:
1. I am undertaking this dip entirely at my own risk and I consider that I may be affected by the cold water.
2. I will follow the instructions of the marshals.
3. Children of 16 years or under or vulnerable adults must either be accompanied by a responsible adult or under the supervision of a group leader if they are part of a group.
If part of a group, all participants’ names are required.

RNLI Water Safety Advice

Festive Dips are cold-water events which involve immersion in water that’s likely to be colder than 15°C as such the RNLI consider them a hazardous activity, with potential risk of Cold-Water Shock and peripheral cooling leading to incapacitation and hypothermia.

Here are some of the top safety tips for cold water dipping:

  • If it’s your first time open water swimming or cold water dipping, it’s important to speak to a health care professional to discuss the risks of cold water immersion before you go
  • Know what to do if your get caught in a rip current
  • Wear a wetsuit that fits you correctly and a brightly coloured swim hat
  • Know what to do if your get caught in a rip current
  • Acclimatise slowly. Never jump or dive straight in, as this could cause cold water shock
  • Stay within your depths and swim parallel to the shore
  • If you get into trouble remember to float to live
  • Have plenty of warm clothes and a warm drink for after your swim

COVID-19

We will be following strict Covid-19 protocols at this event.

We will be reviewing the situation regularly consulting the advice from the Government and Public Health Wales. If the situation changes, we will contact entrants directly to update how it affects the event, for example if we need take any further precautions or we have to cancel the event.

As with the wider public advice we ask if you’re showing any symptoms on the day of the event to please stay at home and do not attend.

For your safety all our crew and volunteers will be wearing masks at all times and additionally our registration team will be wearing gloves.
